The Senior Coach: The senior coach concentrates on "Open Age Group" swimmers with well developed work ethics and exceptional swimming ability.
Marilyn Grindrod
cOACh Marilyn, has been with OAC since 1996. Born and raised in Monroe, New York. Lived in Dunoon Scotland, Essex Connecticut, and currently resides in Hansville, Washington, following her husband’s career while he was serving in the Navy.
Marilyn has trained many state swimmers and divers, who have received scholarships to various schools in and around this area. While coaching for NK high school, she began a feeder program for swimming and also springboard diving.
She managed Naval Base Kitsap swimming pools and coached Bangor Tridents Swimming and Diving teams. Marilyn, had stopped coaching for a few years, getting involved with NK Sailing Team, and FC Kitsap Soccer before she was sought after to coach the Novice level for OAC.
Marilyn swam competitively (AAU) for two years, attended Orange County Community College on an athletic scholarship, transferred to Southern Connecticut State College graduating in 1977 with a BA degree in Physical Education, with a minor in Fine Arts.
Upon moving to Poulsbo, she began swimming Masters, and coaching swimming and diving for North Kitsap School District.
Marilyn is very involved with the American Red Cross as an Instructor, and Instructor Trainer in WSI, Lifeguard Training, and CPR/First Aid. She is an advocate for Water Safety and continues to teach these classes out in the community.
Marilyn has two married daughters who swam competitively when they were younger. Jamie is a High School History teacher and Soccer coach in Anchorage, Alaska. Teressa is a registered nurse currently working in Silverdale at Harrison Hospital.
