Senior Calendar - June 08

As you can see we are into some traveling the later part of the month.. beginning 23 June we are sharing our Jarstad space with the rest of the team, and we are adding SK training..

That week looks like:

Monday 23 June SK Pool 1230-230

Tuesday 24 June 7:30-9 AM Jarstad.. (we will be double ending, as I will have only 2 lanes)

Wednesday 25 June SK 1230-230 then Jarstad 3:30- 6:45 YOGA outside, the relays with the rest of the team.. and we have a pot luck/ parents meeting @ 5:30.. at Jarstad Pool Lobby..

Thursday 26 June 7:30-9 AM Jarstad

Friday 27 June NO PRACTICE West Coast Invite at KCAC

I will be finishing up July and I know you will say I am crazy but we have 3 weeks of intensive work..beginning with a long holiday weekend you will have off July 3-6th.. then non stop swimming..

Please, if transportation is an issue, let me know. We might need to car pool, especially when we are going from SK pool to Jarstad M/W afternoons..(I have 4 seats in my car that are empty)..speak up if you need help, as I am sure other parents are available to help carpool.

Swim-A-Thon Update

Just a reminder that the OAC swim a thon is Friday, Apri11^th at Olympic Aquatic Center.

Seniors will swim Thursday, April 10^th 3:30 to 5:30, Olympic Aquatic Center.

We are having the Swim -A Thon to earn money to purchase swim equipment and a sound system.

The counting sheet that needs to be turned in the night you swim is attached There will be extras at the pool. Please familiarize yourself with the counting system. A "50" is equal to two lengths of the pool. Swimmers have two hours to swim up to 5,000 yards.

Parents or counters will need a pencil to keep track of your swimmer's lengths. Friday is a potluck for all groups after the swim a thon. Azteca is donating a Fiesta Platter, Clover Leaf is donating Pizzas, and Minder Meats is donating hotdogs. We would like our parents to bring cut up fruit, vegetables and dips, cookies.

The lanes may be adjusted according to the number of swimmers who show up. Swimmers may get out for drinks and rest if needed. No kick boards of fins can be used.

When swimmers are done, they pick up their lap sheets from the parents or counters, take it to a coach and have them sign it. It will then be returned back to the swimmer so they can go out and collect their pledges if you have not yet done so. You can turn your money in on April 17^th and 18^th during practice.

Swim a thon certificates, pins and prizes will be handed out at our Team Picnic on July 25^th. More to follow about that. Michelle Reynaga has been working diligently for great prizes. Remember, OAC is #1, when we swim we sure have fun !!

Water Polo

Water polo begins Monday February 25th at from 3:15 - 5pm at the Oly pool.

Costs: Fee $150 for Feb 24 - May 25

USA Water polo registration $70

Team Suit approx $40

League registration $50 covers appoximately 6 games against other area teams.

Swim Meet Pictures

For those of you who are interested in seeing what all those pictures that the OAC Webmaster takes at our meets look like, visit the photography forum (http://www.oacswim.org/Forum/Topics.aspx) there you will find a link to around 850 pictures from two meets. I try to get pictures of all OAC meet swimmers and have had some limited success. One meet posted is the Inter-Squad meet so if your swimmer is not swimming meets yet they might have picture there.

PACIFIC NORTHWEST SWIMMING AGE GROUP ALLSTAR TEAM

Quaid Williams, 12, Liane Hirata, 12, and Jason Soria, 14, were named to the Pacific Northwest Swimming Allstar team. The team is selected based upon swimmers’ winning performances at the PNS short course championship meet and upon Hyteck points assigned for a swimmer’s placement in competitions throughout the competition year. Eight female and eight male swimmers are selected for each age group and 11, 12, and 13-14 with two alternates for each group. This is Williams first time being selected as an Allstar; Hirata and Soria were also selected for the 2006 Allstar team. The Allstar team will compete January 12 and 13 at the Pacific Coast Allstar Meet in Carson City, Nevada.

Soria was also recognized by USA swimming’s National Age Group Recognition program for his time in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.90/5^th nationally as a 13-year old). The program recognizes swimmers in the 11-14 age group whose swim times rank in the top 16 nationally. He is joined by two other local swimmers, Todd McCarthy and Spencer Albaugh, who both swim for Bainbridge Island Swim Club.

Congratulations to OAC’s Grand Pentathlon High Point Trophy Winners!

Grace Smith won High Point for 9 year old Girls. Craig Boekenoogen won High Point for 12 year old Boys.

You two swam beautifully and should be SO proud of yourselves! Keep up the great work!
